Shanghai, 1930. The chivalrous thief Xiao En (played by Wang Xuebing), the singer Yin Xueyan (played by Wang Ying), the female journalist Yuan Jiayi (played by Hu Die), and the police chief Gu Xiongfei (played by Niu Qingfeng) become entangled in a murder case. They soon uncover a shocking secret behind the crime: a dark force is collaborating with the Japanese intelligence organization "Genkaisha" to steal the national treasures relocated south from the Forbidden City. During the investigation, danger lurks at every turn, and the treasures change hands multiple times. Xiao En finally discovers that the mastermind behind this force is Tong Yuanshan, Gu Xiongfei’s biological father. Yuan Jiayi falls in love with Xiao En but receives no response. Gu Xiongfei, secretly in love with Jiayi and blinded by his father, turns against Xiao En, making them bitter enemies. Persisting in his pursuit of the truth, Xiao En unexpectedly uncovers the mystery of his own origins: Tong Yuanshan betrayed the revolution on the eve of the 1911 Revolution, killing Xiao En’s father, and after the revolution’s victory, he stole the hero’s name for himself. Amidst the blazing flames of fame and fortune, within Shanghai’s concrete jungle, these four young people face emotional dilemmas and tests of love and hatred. In the end, they protect China’s precious treasures with their blood and lives.
